2014: What is more synonymous to Japan than Fujisan? The beautiful snow-capped mountain that's the highest in Japan simply takes your breath away. Except in summer when all the snow has melted. And that was what happened when I visited.
My Japanese friend took me in his van from Tokyo to the car-park halfway up the mountain. We took pictures, bought souvenirs and descended. The weather had been gloomy for days so the pictures weren't very good. Apparently summer was the only season that the mountain was opened for climbers. But I didn't have the right attire and gear to attempt a climb to the summit.
