2016: Mai Tai is an alcoholic cocktail based on rum, Curaçao liqueur, and lime juice. It is named after Thailand's national sport muay thai.
The drink is peach/pinkish in color and tastes sweet. I have long since left my years of cocktail bingeing, because I no longer enjoy dry-heaving in the morning. Besides, it's hard to find good-quality cocktails nowadays. Even expensive ones can still cheat you of your money. They skimp on the alcohol and put lots of cordials and sugar syrup instead. That's why I stick to wines. Predictable and reliable, and worth every cent.
That said, I made an exception in Bangkok, to taste their national drink. Well, after Chang, Leo and Singha. My partner and I went to a cozy Italian restaurant in Sukhumvit and I had the mai tai to pair with my caviar pasta. Not an excellent pairing, but good enough. The drink was quite strong. But I switched back to wine after I finished my meal. :-)
