Ride a Cable Car

My first cable car ride was in Genting. If you go to Genting by bus, you can either ride the bus all the way to the top, or stop halfway and take the cable car. The tickets for the bus and/or the cable car can be purchased at KL Sentral.

The cable car takes you 3.38 kilometers at the maximum speed of 6 meters per second all the way to the peak, where the theme park and the casinos are. Depending on the weather, you might be able to see the treetops of the forest down below. For me, the scariest part was when the gondola passed through the towers because it would shake and rattle, albeit for just a couple of seconds.

The cable looked way too small for the gondolas, you'd wonder if it could really hold all the weight. It was like trying to balance dozens of Rubik cubes hanging from a strand of hair. As you sit there for 15 minutes in awkward silence with 7 other strangers in the gondola, you just couldn't help imagining things.

I had a friend who worked with Genting search-and-rescue team. He told me there had been a few 'incidents' in the past, some of which were fatal but were never made public, because the family members of the victims had been paid a hefty amount to stay mum. I didn't ask for details, nor did I know how legit that story was, so don't sue me.

Unfortunately, I didn't have any photo taken. These two pictures below were taken on Langkawi SkyCab.

The Langkawi SkyCab takes you 708 meters above sea level to Langkawi's second highest peak of Mt Machinchang. It's apparently the steepest cable car ride in the world, but for some reason wasn't as scary as that Genting cable car, maybe because the ride was shorter so I didn't have enough time to feel scared.

At the top, you can access the Skybridge, which is a curved suspended bridge hanging at about 100m above ground from a single pylon.
