Visit Nepal

I visited Nepal with my colleague in March 2015, mere weeks before the big earthquakes hit. It was shocking and heartbreaking to hear the news and see the places we had visited and taken photos of all reduced to rubble. I can't bear to think of what might have happened to the kind souls we met there, as they had been some of the friendliest people we had ever met. I hope they survived.

In Nepal, we went to Kathmandu and Pokhara, staying at guesthouses. The weather in Kathmandu was just nice, but as we reached Pokhara, it started to swelter. We had expected it to be much colder, being near the mountains and all, but boy, were we wrong. It was hotter than Kuala Lumpur, and most disappointingly, hazy. We missed the view of the snow-peaked mountains, even as we went paragliding at Sarangkot, where they usually took good pictures of the mountains. It was only on our last day that we got a glimpse of them, and even then it wasn't very clear.

Our trip was too short to allow us time to do any trekking. So we only did some sightseeing, cycling and kayaking.
